WINTER-PROOF YOUR WARDROBE

 Image
Winter is fast approaching, and with every change of season comes fresh fashion trends and styles, new fabrics and designs and an array of accessories. We’ve put together a list of this winters favourites, how to combine them and fit them into current your wardrobe.
Thankfully winter fashion has evolved to where being warm and comfortable is trendy and can still be stylish.
Here are some of our tips to try when creating your ensemble this season:
  • Layer – vests, under shirts, under jerseys, under coats. Key here is to keep warm!
  • Mix it up – don’t be afraid to mix textures, patterns or colours. Add a chunky woollen scarf to a leather coat, or add a bold, bright bag for fresh a colour burst to a simple outfit.
  • Accessories and Accents – Add that extra touch with cute hats, warm gloves, scarves and sparkling jewellery for an icy edge.

There are a few essential pieces to invest in this winter; some of them trendy and current, others classic and elegant:
Pea Coat
¾ or waist lengths, if you only ever buy one more coat in your life, make sure it’s a pea coat. They are classic, incredibly warm and work well with almost anything.

Winter dresses
This season winter dresses are huge, because they fit well in any setting – work or play. Choose a solid colour for a long-sleeved dress or a pattern, like hounds tooth or plaid for one with shorter sleeves and warm the look up with a pair of tights or thick hosiery.

Sleeved Wraps
Opt for a patterned, long-sleeved wrap to add some texture to a solid look. We think these only really work well with snug-fitting trousers, and look great with a waist belt holding the outfit together, adding that extra dimension.

Warm, chunky knits
A fast favourite every winter, knitwear is a must have. We like the longer, knitted pullover that could double up as a winter dress for that extra versatility.

Boots
Knee-highs remain the classic here – great with dresses, skirts and pants, but we’d encourage you to try the lace-up ankle boots with your warm tights for a more casual look.

Base your wardrobe around a few basic components this winter, and most importantly, wear what makes you feel great.
